Position Description: The Department of Communication Sciences and Disorders at the University of Iowa seeks a dynamic and experienced audiologist for a full-time, 12-month clinical track position. The successful candidate will contribute to our thriving AuD clinical program as well as our mission of excellence in teaching, clinical practice, and scholarly activities by providing clinical instruction to AuD students in our university-based Wendell Johnson Speech and Hearing Clinic as well as community-based settings.



We currently offer a broad scope of audiology services to individuals across the lifespan including routine diagnostic testing, auditory electrophysiology testing, aural (re)habilitation services including comprehensive hearing aid and cochlear implant services, hearing loss prevention, and assessment and management of tinnitus and auditory processing disorders, with the goal of expanding services to include vestibular assessment and rehabilitation.

The Department of CSD is soon to move into a new, state-of-the-art facility with significant space for expansion of new and existing programs. The new facility will remain within close walking distance to University of Iowa Health Care and downtown Iowa City.

Education Requirement:

  • Clinical doctorate or master’s degree in audiology from an accredited program

Certifications:

  • Holds or eligible to obtain an audiology license and hearing aid dispensing license in the state of Iowa

  • Holds or eligible to obtain a Certificate of Clinical Competence in Audiology from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (CCC-A)

Desirable Qualifications:

  • At least 3 years of experience in clinical audiology

  • At least 1 year experience with clinical teaching

  • In additon to experience in general audiology diagnositics and hearing aid services, clinical experience in one or more of the following specialty areas:

    • Pediatric aural rehabilitation

    • Vestibular assessment and rehabilitation

    • Cochlear implants

    • Tinnitus assessment and management

    • Auditory processing disorders assesment and management



  • Professional job-related experience fostering or promoting a welcoming and respectful work, academic, and/or clinical environment where people from all backgrounds and perspectives feel welcomed and appreciated

  • Experience with interprofessional education and collaborative practices

  • Evidence of leadership in and/or service to the profession (e.g., involvement in professional organizations

  • Experience with development and implementation of clinical programming or program development

  • Familiarity with CMS regulations and guidelines and general audiology business practices
