The University of Iowa Community Clinics (UICC) is seeking an Hourly/PRN Staff Nurse (10-20 hours per week) to support our OB-GYN/Women's Health Clinic in Muscatine, IA. This position will primarily support OB-GYN but could also float to support other specialties based on clinical needs/hours.

The obstetrics and gynecology (OBGYN) specialists at University of Iowa Health Care are skilled at preventing, diagnosing, and treating gynecologic conditions.  And whether you're considering pregnancy (https://uihc.org/services/pregnancy-care) or navigating menopause, we're also here to offer expert guidance and support.

Duties to include:

  •  Applies nursing theory to the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and evaluation of patient responses to health and illness.
  • Assesses patient health care preferences and expectations.
  • Collaboratively coordinates the continuum of care across settings.
  • Develops patient care plan based on patient condition, age, and psychological, educational, and socioeconomic conditions that prescribes interventions to attain expected outcomes.
  • Implements patient care plan according to patient priorities, which includes interventions identified through nursing diagnoses. Documents/reports interventions and patient/family response.
  • Collaborates and integrates contributions of patients and families into multidisciplinary patient care plan.
  • Develops, coordinates and implements transfer/discharge planning throughout episode of care.
  • Implements nursing interventions according to department, division, and/or unit policies, procedures, and protocols to maintain safe environment for patients, visitors and staff. Follows universal precautions.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards

Percent of Time: 25% (10 - 20 hours per week)  

Schedule: Variable hours, Monday - Friday from 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM with no weekends, no holidays and no on-call time. Main clinical support will be every Friday with other days based on clinical needs, could float to other services/clinics based on clinical needs/hours.

Location: Muscatine, IA (and surrounding clinics based on clinical needs)

Pay Grade: 52  https://hr.uiowa.edu/pay/guide-pay-plans/seiu-hourly-pay-plan 

Salary: $26.10 up to $50.00 

Qualifications
Education 

  • An Associate’s Degree in Nursing, a Diploma in Nursing, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (BSN), Professional Masters of Nursing and Healthcare Practice (MNHP), MSN/Clinical Nurse Leader or a Master’s Degree in Nursing (MSN, MA) is required. 

Required Qualifications 

  • Current license to practice in the state of Iowa by the time of hire.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal skills with patients/families, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary team members as demonstrated through written and verbal interactions.
  • General computer skills are required.
  • Driver's License and ability to meet UI Fleet Safety Standards.

Highly Desired Qualifications 

  • 2-5 years of OB-GYN experience.
  • Previous Staff Nurse ambulatory experience, including phone triage experience.

Desired Qualifications 

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing or Master’s Degree in Nursing is desired.
    • If Baccalaureate degree in Nursing is not yet obtained, active enrollment in a BSN program is desirable.
  • Previous Ambulatory nursing care experience, including telephone triage experience in the outpatient setting.
  • Previous UIHC and/or ambulatory clinic experience.
  • Previous OB-GYN experience.
  • Previous experience adapting quickly to different clinical environments and patient populations is crucial.
  • A strong foundation in clinical nursing skills is essential, including proficiency in assessment, medication administration, critical thinking, and patient education.
  • Current experience in self-directed, independent roles (autonomous work ability).
